Some weddings you prep for months. This one, I prepped for 36 hours.

When a fellow DJ welcomed a new baby into the world just before his wedding gig, I got the call to step in last minute, no rehearsal, no room for nerves. Just get in there and do the job. So I did.

The wedding was Hannah and Sam's, and from the second we walked into the Crystal Ballroom at the Marriott Grand, we knew this one was special. Black tie all the way, with just a touch of pink in the flowers softening all that elegance. A big, warm crowd of family and friends who clearly adored this couple — the kind of room where everyone actually dances.

Hannah and Sam could not have been more gracious about the whole situation. New DJ, tight turnaround, and they welcomed me like I'd been part of the plan all along. Grateful, sweet, and ready to have a good time — exactly what you hope for when you're stepping in cold.

The moment that stuck with us: their first dance to Frank Sinatra's "The Way You Look Tonight." Classic, timeless, a little bit swoony set the tone for a night that felt effortless even though it came together in a flash.
